Northern Offshore Services has been expanding rapidly for the past ten years and has become one of the leading companies in the competitive offshore wind industry. The company’s niche is specialist shipping, with particular emphasis on crew transfer vessels, which is why the wind power industry is so important to us. Northern Offshore Services was one of the first companies to establish itself in this specific segment and currently offers a wide range of specially adapted vessels optimised for high performance and efficiency. Our fleet currently consists of just over 40 vessels.

Our company has a clear vision: BEST365. We also have strong values inspired by the shipping culture that permeates Donsö in the Gothenburg archipelago, where our owners have their roots. We are very proud of and influenced by our history, which features several generations of seafarers, entrepreneurs and businesspeople. Now, we are looking ahead and focused on growing and gaining market share.

We are very Passionate about shipping, business and development. Development leads to change, and change requires creativity. We have many creative People working with us, which has resulted in many innovative Solutions that have enabled us to meet our customers’ needs as well as our own. The combination of extremely creative people and a strong national organisation allows us to implement innovative solutions.

The years that we have spent building this business have been highly varied and have featured many ideas, solutions and plenty of hard work for us all. But above all it has been an incredibly fun time. We love it when something upsets the day-to-day. That’s what sparks creativity. At the same time, we like to be well organized as it fosters a feeling of stability and security. We feel that the future is bright, and we are convinced that the coming years will be just as interesting and full of development opportunities as the ones we have had so far. Northern offshore group

Northern Offshore Group is a privately owned group consisting of a number of expansive companies operating primarily in the marine industry.

The group’s activities take place through four main companies: Northern Offshore Services, Northern Energy & Supply, American Offshore Services and Mareel Ltd. We employ some 350 staff and have a fleet comprising just over 65 vessels.
N-O-S is an industry-leading supplier to the international offshore wind industry and provides crew transfer vessels for the transport of personnel and equipment. N-E-S serves the marine industry locally and globally within the segments Energy, Recycling and Logistics. Mareel operates a fleet of crew transfer vessels for the transfer of personnel and equipment between shore and wind turbines. The group’s head office is located in Gothenburg, Sweden, with branch offices in Denmark, USA, the United Kingdom and Germany.

History

Based on more than 100 years of shipping experience and tradition

N-O-S is built on more than 100 years of shipping experience and tradition. Our founders are trained, experienced sea captains with an enormous interest in shipping. They founded the company a little more than ten years ago with one single supply boat which they operated themselves in the Gothenburg area. The journey to the offshore wind industry started with the first contract in 2008 and the company’s efficiency and skill at operating the vessel astounded everyone. The company is based on entrepreneurship, innovation, hard work and the belief that anything is possible! We are not afraid to be the first to trial new solutions, and we quickly recognised that there was significant unexplored territory and unleveraged development potential in the offshore wind industry. The first series of vessels commissioned by N-O-S were Southboats. These vessels were designed based on unique specifications as we realised that they needed to be more efficient, faster and perform better than those available on the market at that time. We quickly realised that the industry needed larger vessels and used our own experience and knowledge to develop the A-class series. The six A-class vessels were built in close collaboration with shipbuilders at a wharf in Grovfjord in Norway.

As our fleet increased, so did our need for employees within our national organisation, and it was not long before we started to outgrow our offices on Donsö. In order to retain personnel and recruit new employees, we established our head office in Saltholmen in Gothenburg and opened a secondary office in Esbjerg, Denmark, which has since relocated to Kastrup.
We proceeded to design and build a larger vessel series known as the D-class to meet the market’s needs. This series was based on N-O-S’s own requirements and is capable of carrying 12 or 24 passengers. The first D-class vessel was delivered in 2014.
With a fleet comprising more than 40 vessels and an increased demand for local presence, we have also established offices in the United Kingdom and Germany. To us, the future looks bright, and we are planning to build new revolutionary vessels and establish a presence outside of Northern Europe, in both the United States and Asia.
